Clare is the headteacher of St Matthias Primary School in Tower Hamlets in the East End of London where she has been working since 1991. She is interested in the application of cognitive science in the primary and early years classroom; what it tells us about memory and how this could influence how we plan for long term learning through careful curriculum design. She writes blogs about how her school is attempting to put educational research into practice https://primarytimery.com/ Clare presents at ResearchED and is a member of the OFSTED curriculum advisory group:
During our conference Clare gave two presentations which you can download below. The first explores what is meant by knowledge and the second considers how memory works and how we might build a curriculum that explicitly sets out to ensure long term learning. Clare explored how we can plan links that reinforce learning across year groups and across subjects.
